Etsy, Etsy, Etsy...:-(

I am just so frustrated!!

How much success have all of you had? I have listed my pieces a few times, but never seem to make any sales. I am not sure if its my store, my prices or my pics. I have tried the online marketplaces such as eBay before, but I have never had this much trouble selling.

How are you guys doing, are you successful, and what am I missing? Can someone give me some advice? Or, if you think there is a better marketplace out there for my pieces, PLEASE speak up?!?!?!?

Thank you for any help you can provide!

  1. Don't give up on Etsy - it may take some time before your shop gets noticed. Although I believe that Etsy has the market cornered for the best online sales venue for handmade items, it's so darn big that the major problem is that people can't find you! Think of signing up to do a craft show, and then you see that the show is as big as a small town....and your booth is in the last row! How many people are going to make it all the way to your booth? It also doesn't help that the Etsy search engines always return items in the order listed.
But a couple of concrete suggestions, if I may be so bold: Your banner could use some work - it looks skewed. Also, put a little more verbiage in your description - it looks sparse. Think of your page as your display, or shop window. Add more items! Fill up at least one whole page.
Your photography is good, but I would suggest using more than one shot of each item. People like to see as much of the piece as they can, since they can't see it in person.
Good luck! and if you find some, send some my way, too!

  2. Hi Kathie! If it's any consolation, I have noticed in my marketing travels on the internet that many Etsy sellers are increasingly marketing themselves these days- I think it is just the nature of the economic beast these days. But hang in there.... Keep creating, believing in yourself and putting yourself out there.... things will get better.... :)

  3. I think eBay is great way. I also use eBay to get more profit.

  4. Thank you all for your comments. Laurel, you are right. I have not put enough effort in, to get anything of value out! I will work hard on getting a new banner made. I am just learning to use my software program, and you make a great point!
