I have started creating magnetic collars for your pets. I have found that these seem to calm the typical stresses in Dachshunds, and these beads are well known for helping with joint pain. My little girl suffers from terrible anxiety, and she has improved slightly over the last few weeks wearing her collar. I can make them with Bling or without.

After celebrating our nation's birthday, the summer really begins for me. I love to create, but I have such a hard time staying inside and creating jewelry. I find myself wanting to sit outside more with my furbies. What about all of you, how do you get inspiration to work indoors when the weather is so inviting and you HAVE to get pieces made for craft shows??? Ok, so this is not exactly the view from my house, but this is how I feel about the summer.
I miss my daily blurbs about love, life, jewelry and pursuit of BEADS! The reason for my sudden absence is that I am very down lately.

I have been suffering from clinical depression for a few years now and these last few weeks have just been a nightmare, literally. I won't bore you with all the details, but there are so many things going on in my life at once, that the pressure of it all has finally taken its toll. So, here I am pouring my heart out to you guys, my bead cult members and very good listeners. I cannot seem to find the time, (or even want to) to create jewelry anymore.

Do any of you suffer from this awful affliction? And if so, besides the meds what seems to help you? I try going in my studio and I walk right back out. I try exercising, and that works for about 10 mins after I am done. I have tried many other things, but I still have anxiety attacks and feel down all the time. I hope that some of you can give me some much needed advice or even some "free" therapy. ;)

Have a wonderful day,
Your beading friend, KathieKathie Nightingalehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17696735326061464771noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382546124293380972.post-53055959304077508382010-05-14T03:23:00.000-07:002010-05-14T03:30:58.333-07:00Tee, Gee, Eye, Eff !!

Yes, it is finally Friday.

I love the prospect of a lovely weekend at home doing yardwork and of course beadwork!! I have been very busy with my new job training and working some extra hours, but I LOVE It!! I had posted sometime ago that I was not happy at my old job and I have finally nailed a good one! Making that "leap" to working on jewelry full time has always been my dream, unfortunately my financial situation won't allow it. Nowadays, my husband and I cannot afford to lose my full time salary.

So, here I am wanting some suggestions from my beading/jewelry artist friends. How did you do it? Usually I go to my favorite bead store and "hang out" with some of the most creative people I have every met. But, this time I found a bead show that was about an hour away in Niagara Falls. Wow, what a wonderful place to draw creativity and to see the latest trends in beading, glass art and of course my favorite SILVER. But since money is a little tight these days, I decided to change my focus a little.

I bought some very heavy 12 gauge aluminum wire, some crystals and some gorgeous large ceramic beads. I am going to create some sun catchers and work on other projects besides jewelry for a change. I feel that some of my creative juices are stuck somewhere, and I can't seem to get them flowing. So, here is an example of what I have started to make. I personally think that they are so pretty, I might even put them on Etsy!

Take care, and as always...Happy Beading!

Live~Laugh~Love~Bead!

KathieKathie Nightingalehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17696735326061464771noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382546124293380972.post-25090374065623129622010-03-18T06:43:00.000-07:002010-03-18T10:10:37.008-07:00Totally off topic!Lately, this blogging thing has been very therapeutic. I have tried journaling but cannot seem to keep up with actually putting the pen to paper. I love to creative write, but it seems that I am best at doing that at a keyboard instead. So, here I am.

Recently, my day job is just getting too much to handle. The constant routine of it all is starting to grate on my last nerve, and that is putting it mildly. In this economy, I assume that I should just be thankful to have a job right? RIGHT & WRONG!

However, even though money is tight around here (and I know because I am the bill payer!), my boss has spent too much money on too many new things, such as new laptops for salespeople, new cars for the service staff and brand new phones for everyone.

But after my review, and well what do you know?? "there's no money in the budget for me to get a raise!!" Can you believe it??? No, I couldn't either. So, now I am out on the job search again. I put nearly 4 years into this place and gotten nowhere!

Job hunting really sucks, in no uncertain terms. Interviews are the worst king of torture IMHO. Why to they need to ask you these odd questions, that they know I am going to make up the answer to anyway? Like for instance, "can you tell me when you failed to meet you assigned objective, and how you justified not making it on time?" What the heck? Are you kidding me? How do you answer these types of questions without saying, "NEVER!"

Anyway, I just wanted to vent! I know things will get better, and I will find something that makes me happy. I just wish I could venture out on my own, and try to start my own business, then I don't have anything to complain about right?

Well, thanks for listening. Cheers!

Live~Love~Laugh~Bead!

KathieKathie Nightingalehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17696735326061464771noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382546124293380972.post-84483815723101051832010-03-14T13:09:00.001-07:002010-03-14T13:10:05.528-07:00Its cleaning dayI just cleaned out my beads and put some on etsy if anyone is interested. Making that "leap" to working on jewelry full time has always been my dream, unfortunately my financial situation won't allow it. Nowadays, my husband and I cannot afford to lose my full time salary. So, here I am wanting some suggestions from my beading/jewelry artist friends. How did you do it? Did you start with Esty or eBay? Or your own website, or wholesale? Any advice would be so helpful.

I love being a part of this wonderful community of beaders, and I know you all have some great advice you are just dying to share!!

Thanks,

Peace, Love and Beads!!

KathieKathie Nightingalehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17696735326061464771noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382546124293380972.post-51022144559763374042010-02-05T11:47:00.000-08:002010-02-05T11:55:01.628-08:00Excitement is building...can you feel it?Grand Opening!!

I just found out that my very good friend (also in the hand-made jewelry business) is going to open her own storefront boutique! This is such awesome news!! She has also asked me to send some designs to her that I could sell in her store on consignment, what an honor! As soon as she has the dates planned for the grand opening, I will post some more details. I was just so excited and thrilled to be involved in this venture, I had to share it! If you would like to see her designs, please visit her online store at www.jacquisjewelryboutique.com.

Take care, and as always Happy Beading!

Kathie

Live~Laugh~Love~Bead!Kathie Nightingalehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17696735326061464771noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382546124293380972.post-35382161774683944272010-01-31T13:26:00.000-08:002010-01-31T13:33:01.151-08:00Bead GuildIf you have a local bead guild that you can join, I suggest that you go to a meeting. I went to my first one today, and I was really inspired. I cannot believe how many talented artists there are out there, and how willing to help each other everyone was.

The first part of the meeting was shopping, my favorite thing. A few people brought some lovely things for all of us to drool over!! Then there was a quick overview of what the guild is about and what is expected of everyone. The dues are very reasonable, only $25 per year to come and get class instruction or to just have a grand old time! They always plan a yearly fund raising event and trips to bead shows and beading events. This year is very exciting, we are having some guest artists come in for special classes for all of us to join in on! I am very happy to have found this great group.

Every month we meet and have just a fun time. So, I wanted to pass along this great social idea to all of you that may not know about bead guilds in your area. Go ahead have a ball!

Live~Love~Laugh~Bead!

KathieKathie Nightingalehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17696735326061464771noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382546124293380972.post-68645646390885799652010-01-30T12:05:00.000-08:002010-01-30T12:15:02.779-08:00Bead Store TherapyI have been feeling a little down lately. My creative juices are just not flowing. Maybe it's a combination of the COLD weather, the dreary days and the fact that money's a little tight. But, I still have to go to my favorite bead store and WOW, things start poppin'!! I love to shop for beads almost as much as making jewelry. I love to go explore, and find new, creative ways to make beautful things out of 5 or 6 beautiful beads. So, I hung out with the girls for about 2 hours today, picking their brains and getting some really great ideas. We were also toying with the idea of planning a "bead soup" exchange of our own! I signed up for two new classes, (PMC Yeah, & wire knitting) and they are always a blast to go to.

Rochester NY is a very creative place to live. So, if you are ever in our humble little city, come visit Lets Bead! in East Rochester. Awesome store, and one of the best selections of beads and findings around. Here is the link to their website: http://www.letsbead.com/. Go check them out and see for yourself!!

I cannot wait to get started, and if you need a little pick me up, go see your favorite bead store and get your "Bead On".

I will post some pics soon!

Happy Beading!
Kathie

Live~Love~Laugh~Bead!Kathie Nightingalehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17696735326061464771noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5382546124293380972.post-21798566979228571282010-01-27T09:17:00.000-08:002010-01-27T09:21:27.099-08:00Facebook, Twitter, etc..Do you use them?

Do all of you use these social networks to promote your business website and/or your blogs? I have just started to and WOW, I am amazed at the hits on my website and blog. I set up a page that branches off from my personal facebook page.
